Simple Green/USHA Pro Stop, San Angel Club, Juarez, Mex., March 8-10. In conjunction with the Cradle of Champions honoring Naty Alvarado and Poncho Monreal

“I’ll give you one guess as to why I won today,” David Chapman said after the final. “C’mon, it’s easy – conditioning was the reason,” Chapman said when there was a pause after his four-game win over Naty Alvarado Jr., (9), 9, 9, 1.

“I made it hard on myself,” Naty Alvarado said of his slowdown in the fourth game. “I wasn’t breathing right. I was holding my breath when I shot and I ran myself out of gas. I wasn’t moving like I was in Dallas, either,” he added.

Thus, is how the finalists for the fourth consecutive time this season explained their most recent showdown in Juarez, where Naty Jr. was born.

The event was held in conjunction with the “Cradle of Champions” Tournament which honored former national champions Naty Alvarado Sr. and Poncho Monreal. In his acceptance speech, Naty thanked the people in Juarez for being with him and supporting him wherever he was during his handball career.
