FINAL RESULTS- Houston Pro Stop #4, March 2-4

Alvarado is Fourth Pro Winner this Season!

In the men’s Simple Green Pro event, the five-game format brought more exciting play. “I’ve got to lose 20 pounds to return those serves,” No. 1 ranked Chapman said after losing the final of the Simple Green Pro to No. 3 ranked Naty Alvarado. Alvarado aced his way to a 2-0 lead after two games and was ripping defensive returns with his left to keep Chapman off balance.

Chapman tried to break the momentum with various lob serves to the left and used his allotment of timeouts in each game. But that didn’t forestall the inevitable as Alvarado forged a 3-0 lead in the third before fans felt a momentum switch. Chapman rallied to win that game and force a fourth as super fan Bob Schaudenecker wondered if Alvarado’s switch had turned off. “He (Naty) had easy matches. He was on fire against Bike and Munoz – it was almost embarassing for Vince,” Bob said.

The momentum switched back in the fourth game as Alvarado went on another serving tear to take a 5-0 lead. Chapman called his second timeout at 7-3 and didn’t have much left stop Alvarado. Afterward, Alvarado was more sympathetic to his opponent. “He (Chapman) didn’t play well, he missed a lot of shots,” Naty explained for Chapman. With Alvarado at his best, it was the pace and the lack of errors from Alvarado that forced Chapman off his game.
