A few years ago, The World Pro Handball (WPH) association was formed to promote professional handball. The USHA and WPH have met on several occasions to further the common goal of growing the “perfect game,” through webcasts and tournament promotions. After meeting with Dave Vincent at the January 2009 board meeting, a Memo of Understanding was developed for several joint efforts.
However, many of you will recall the USHA Board’s concern and disappointment when the WPH announced it would schedule collegiate and junior events during the same time periods as our longstanding USHA National events. That led to the dissolution of the Memo of Understanding to which the USHA and the World Pro Handball association had agreed.
Since that parting of the ways, there have been negative, misinformed postings on the WPH website’s message board about the USHA’s role and position on some important subjects related to handball.
The USHA Board has put together a number of responses to some of the mis-information that has been posted. As always, any questions you have for the national office and/or Board, whether or not they are addressed here, can and will be answered if you would like to call or write at any time.
Finally, the USHA board has just voted to try to open a line of communication with the WPH board to try to alleviate the scheduling conflicts that are looming with the junior and collegiate events and explore other opportunities for growing the game.
