Sunday's Final Results from USHA Masters Doubles, Peachtree and Race 4 Eight
ATLANTA - Luis Moreno overpowered Sean Lenning and Naty Alvarado Jr. on Saturday to
take the Race 4 Eight event. "I'm happy to play better here after the last event in Fresno," Moreno said after his second tiebreaker win (at left).
Tight corners in the 40s at left as Dan Zimet and Andy Shad rallied from a 3-10 deficit in the tiebreaker to beat John Robles and Chris Watkins. Robles and Watkins didn't leave without a title, though. They rallied to defeat Dave Chapman and Lance Wachholz for the 35 title immediately after.
There were numerous surprises on Sunday.
Masters action (At left, Jim Smith sets against Joe Noto and Bob Snyder.) was limited to just a few fields as players Action got underway today in Lilburn, just outside Atlanta, along with the annual Peachtree Open and WPH Race 4 Eight. Emmett Peixoto, shown beating Andy Schad, was one of four qualifiers trying to break into the coveted top 8. The other three qualifiers were Chip Morales, Andy Nett and Luis Cordova.
