Joan Wicker presents the Hall of Fame Open Singles awards to winner Abraham Monitjo (rt) and runner-up Luis Cordova Jr.
TUCSON, Ariz. - Play wrapped up Sunday morning at the Tucson Racquet & Fitness for the Hall of Fame Tournament.  Abraham Montijo defeated Luis Cordova Jr. in the Open Singles. 

Lenin Navar and Ignacio Veloc wrapped up  the Open Doubles.   

In the A Singles Daniel Cordova defeated Ruben Caro.

In the B Singles Allison Roberts defeated Gary Eisenbooth in the tiebreaker.

Edgar Medina of Phoenix Youth Handball's Success 4 Kids accepts the Marty Decatur Sportsmanship Award from the USHA's Vern Roberts.  The Decatur Award is presented each year at the Annual Hall of Fame Tournament in Tucson.  

TUCSON, Ariz. - Players, families and handball  friends turned out in force for the Hall of Fame banquet on Saturday afternoon. Edgar Medina was presented the Marty Decatur Sportsmanship Award.  Medina serves as a mentor for Phoenix Youth Handball's Success 4 Kids and also sets a good example with his sportsmanship on the court.  Medina reached the semifinals of the Open Singles before falling to Luis Cordova Jr.

Abraham Montijo will meet Cordova Sunday in the final as he defeated Daniel Perez in the semis. 

Ignacio Veloc and Lenin Navar are the only undefeated team left in the Open doubles and will face fellow El Paso players Guillermo Pallares and L. Cordova Sr. in their final match on Sunday.

Lauren Guerra nailed down the junior title with a 13 and 19 win over Justine Del Castillo.

TUCSON, Ariz. - Tournament directors Vince San Angelo, Charlie & Joan Wicker got action underway on Friday at the Tucson Racquet Club.  Play for all divisions began on Friday with the exception of the Juniors which will start play on Saturday morning. 


 

 

 

 

 

TUCSON, Ariz. - The 2008 USHA Hall of Fame Tournament will begin play at the Tucson Racquet & Fitness Club at 5:00 pm on Friday.  Below are the tentative draws and start times for this weekend's event.  All players are guaranteed two matches.  Juniors will begin play on Saturday at 9:00 am.
