National One-Wall

USHA National One-Wall Championships, Brooklyn, NY Anver Suleiman was the first champion crowned in New York when he won a close tiebreaker in the 70-plus final. Graham Palmore won the 65s, Abe Haiman won the 60s and Fred Cole won the 50s all on Friday, Sandy Ng overpowered Ana Ng (no relation) in the Women’s B final and Tracy Davis will face Theresa McCourt in the Women’s Open on Saturday.Rookie Wright edged PeeWee Castro in a grueling tiebreaker that saw both players cramp near the end. After the match, Rookie headed to the ocean to cool off and passed out in the water. Rushed to the hospital to get fluids in him, Rookie wasn’t able to play his doubles match but did make it back to the courts to a cheer from the crowd and hopes to take the court for his semifinal on Saturday.
