USHA National Three-Wall Juniors at Venice Beach Luis Moreno grabbed the 19 singles over Armando Ortiz on Sunday morning and then Ortiz teamed with Ricardo Ruiz to turn the tables and win the doubles over Moreno and Daniel Perez. (In the photo: ) Tyree Bastidas rode a big reverse to the right side to win the 17s over Adrian Ortiz. Marco Lemus was too strong for Ricky Ortiz in the 15s. Steve Matiasek won the 11 title over Damian Chapa in two games. Marco Lemus was the only “slammer,” winning the 15 doubles with Patrick Sutherland over Brant Bidegain and Trevor Schneeman.
Cara Arsenault was a revelation in the Girl's 19-Under Singles. Local Daniel Fernandez went undefeated in the Boy's 13-Under Singles.
Fred Lewis was presented with the USHA Coach of the Year Award by Howie Eisenberg on Sunday.
