USHA Major Event Schedule The USHA is putting the finishing touches on the Major Event schedule for the coming season. Of course, the National Junior Three-Wall is next weekend and please remember that youngsters can play one singles and one doubles event. New this year is the three-match minimum for all singles players! The one-wall (Aug. 1-5 in New York) and three-wall nationals (Aug. 30-Sept. 3 in Toledo) follow shortly thereafter and then it's time to come inside for the Simple Green US Open in Orange County, Oct. 18-21. The National Four-Wall Juniors are in Tucson, Dec. 27-30, so no one will have to worry about shoveling snow to get to the courts. The national collegiates will be back at Missouri State, Feb. 20-24. The Masters doubles (March 6-9 in San Diego) and Masters singles (April 18-20 in Houston) will be great tune-ups for the 35-plus crowd to get ready for the national four-wall (June 16-22 in Overland Park, KS). There's just one hole in the schedule and that's for the "third major" of the season. The USHA is hoping for a site to come forward with some extra funds to make a third major with $30,000 in prize money to bring out the game's best players for another major event. The USHA's series sponsors will be helping out with $20,000 in prizes to go with the host fee to make for an open event along the same prestige and draws as the four-wall nationals and Simple Green US Open. Interested? Contact Vern Roberts at USHA, who can fill you in on the sanctioning fee, webcast opportunities, and more. Already expressing interest are Seattle, Denver and L.A. |
