Comments: The University of Colorado at Boulder is steadily developing its collegiate handball program which was begun with the help of the Costigan Youth Handball program in 2001. We currently maintain a list of nearly 100 interested students, of which there are about 15 regular players. Comments: The University of Miami, Fla, is now a program that is composing players to the beats of a new drum. With Nelson Quintero as their coach, these players are practicing as a team of 25 plus people, including five or more ladies, on six courts. The club has hosted a tournament for teams from nearby cities, and would like to arrange collegiate competition with colleges and universities in the southeast who may also be starting handball programs. Tad decided to offer the course in Handball in Pocatello, Idaho, when he realized there might be a lot of strong interest, and Tad was right. On the first day his class overflowed with students. Comments: Lake Forest College and Head Coach Mike Dau are synonymous with success on the handball court. With the completion of the Sports Center in 1968, handball was added to the athletic program and Mike Dau was appointed the school’s first head coach. Since then, the Foresters have added 109 All-America tags and 21 national championships to their name. Lake Forest has hosted the Intercollegiate tournament seven times, most recently in 1999, and been featured in such national publications as Sports Illustrated and The Christian Science Monitor. The Forester handball program truly defines a “Tradition of Excellence”.
