REPORT TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

General:  No. 1 responsibility is to exercise good judgment in the best interest of the USHA, stepping outside the job description when necessary.

JOB SUMMARY:

Marketing: The USHA mission statement is Organizing, Promoting and Spreading the Joy of Handball. Goal is to get the word out, gaining national exposure for handbal. Soliciting major sponsorships is the eventual goal. Merchandising USHA Logo products and Marketing the sport of handball. The USHA is the sole supplier of handballs and one of two major glove suppliers. Clothing is another opportunity to grow the identity of handball and the USHA. Communicating the message to members, players, and the general public through website,blogs, magazine and numerous press releases.

Grant writing for USHA Programs on the national and local level. Some travel required.  Compensation commensurate with experience (approx. $2500/mo. to start, plus benefits and bonus/commissions), bachelor degree required and experience in merchandising, marketing, sales and/or fundraising, publishing/writing and grant writing preferred.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1) Sales/Fundraising: Develops, Promotes and Sells USHA products, Develop new products for merchandising and sale to handball players. Manages the on-line store at www.ushandball.org.  Finds new Avenues for USHA Products Ambassadors, clubs, wholesale suppliers. Raises charitable funds and Sells sponsorships ($1,000 ads and up).  Photoshop and Web and publishing knowledge

2) Marketing, Promotions and Communications:  Press Releases, E-News to members, Website updates and Public Relations for handball, the USHA and its sponsors. Promotion of national events/championships. Brochures and promotional materials.

3) Grant Writing: Searches and prepares grants for handball programs (national for USHA and as support for local programs

EVALUATION:

Merchandise sales Fundraising/Sponsorship sales
Success of Public Relations campaign for USHA and its sponsors (portfolio of articles)
New Grants  Lucrative Commission compensation for sponsorship sales.

USHA Sponsorship/Advertising Sales Representative:

The U.S. Handball Association (a 501 c-3 and the National Governing body) is seeking a results-orientated professional to develop and manage corporate sponsorships for national tournaments, Handball Magazine and grassroots youth programs (exposure to thousands) throughout the U.S. Successful candidates will have established network with potential sponsors and demonstrated fund raising background.

USHA Membership Sales:

The U.S. Handball Association is seeking membership sales representatives. This position can be done part time. The position requires one to look for handball players who are not currently USHA members, explaining the benefits of a USHA membership to them and selling memberships.

Marketing Research Intern:

The United States Handball Association is looking for a market research intern to do a study of our membership. Our last study is over 11 years old and we need current numbers in order to market sponsorship opportunities. The study will focus on the purchasing habits and base demographics of our membership population. To succeed in this position you should have strong questionnaire writing and analyzing skills.

The United States Handball Association (USHA) is the National Governing Body for the sport of handball. The USHA is a 501©3 non-profit corporation, dedicated to the growth and development of the sport for all age levels.

As the governing body, the USHA is responsible for administering and sanctioning over 100 tournaments per year, including the Championship Series. The USHA publishes Handball Magazine, the game's only national publication and the "Bible" for the sport.  USHA’s Mission is To Organize, Promote and Spread the Joy of Handball - The Perfect Game.

Position Description:

Prepare a questionnaire to be distributed to the USHA membership
Input results from the survey into a central database
Analysis and correlates data
Create a report of all results found from the data gathered
Work closely with the Executive Director and Marketing Director of the USHA

Compensation:

Unfortunately, we cannot offer monetary compensation for the internship; however, we will work with your college so you receive college credit. We will also be willing to provide strong letters of recommendation for work well done.
