BROOKLYN–Satish Jagnandan and John "Rookie" Wright faced first-round scares but were able to get on track to face off in the final of the Ace Tour and USHA Series event in August at Coney Island. Paul Angel got to 21 first against Jagnandan but was unable to hold on, losing 25-21. In similar fashion, Raul Retian jumped to a lead, only to have Wright tie it 23-23 before advancing 25-23. While Jagnandan moved quickly from there to the final, Wright trailed Cesar Sala in the semis before prevailing. In the final, Jagnandan got off to an early lead with his serve-and-shoot approach. Wright fought back, but his fatigue and Jag-nandan’s effortless style were too much. In the women’s division, Brenda Pares and Tracy Davis played classic percentage handball. They moved each other around the court and relied on shot placement rather than power. Davis gained an early lead and never relinquished it. Thanks to Milton Jones, Melody Ruiz and Tony Roberts.
