Player Development

Welcome to the page dedicated to Player Development. This page is intended to summarize the USHA Player Development Program and to direct you to where you can learn more about how the USHA is helping to grow the game.

What is Player Development?
  • Is it Introducing handball to schools by "Teaching Teachers" how to introduce handball at elementary and secondary schools by providing them the tools to offer handball as a class?
  • Is it supporting teachers and volunteers to offer handball in the schools as a before, or after school activity or as a club or as a activity during recess and lunch?
  • Is it helping youth serving organizations such as a YMCA , Park and Recreation Department or Boys and Girls Club offer handball as an activity by providing volunteers and staff with the skills to teach handball?
  • Is it identifying and training mentors and instructors to work with new players?
  • Is it encouraging colleges and universities to offer handball as a unit by locating capable volunteers to teach the class?
  • Is it locating and supporting students at college and universities to start a club by teaching them how to organize and start a club?
  • Is it providing enough equipment to get schools, youth groups and volunteers started so that the initial financial cost is minimal?
  • Is it providing instructional resources so that any handball player can teach handball to anyone regardless of age?
  • Is it gathering the data and resources to document the social and health benefits of handball?
  • is it linking new and developing players with veteran players in their community?
  • Is it identifying and forming alliances and partnerships to benefit each group?

The answer is ALL OF THE ABOVE and this page is available to support all those endeavors. Please check the page frequently and contact me for more information.
