Skip McDowell was the emcee for the inductions. Speaking on behalf of Jim Triplett was Jerry Conine and Naty Alvarado inducted Bruce FaBrizio.
Jim Triplett was honored as player when as both McDowell and Conine noted the Riverside league team was tough to beat. Bruce FaBrizio’s committements to promote handball were chronicaled beginning with his support of the USHA Juniors in the eighties which led to support for numerous local events and national events held locally, and ultimately to sponsorship of the Pro Tour and now the Simple Green Open with the highest amount of prize money of any handball tournament.
In his acceptance speech Jim noted that he was brought up by his father that "Winners never quit, and quiters never win "but that today what he charises the most are the friendships that were made. In Bruce’s acceptance speech he told of the days he spent playing rugby, running track and playing football. Though signed by the Chicago Bears to replace Dick Butka, Bruce never acheived that level of success however he said that "perhaps if the had taken up handball at the age of twelve he would have been more successful in his pursuit of a career in football." Bruce noted that handball is the toughest game to play and that the skills developed by playing handball would make anyone a better athlete.

Pete Svennungsen and Jay Balkenbush defeated Eric Plummer and Jake Plummer in a close and competitive match, 21-18, 21-17.
The players were great models of how to play the game with passion, skill and sportsmanship.
The GU handball students really enjoyed the match. We have 12 students in the class ranging from freshmen to seniors

From Paula Murphy, Senior Editor of Boys Life
Boys Life magazine is currently running a series of features that spotlight high achievers, including athletes, who are Boy Scouts. Consequently, the magazine is interested in identifying US Handball Association youth athletes who compete at the national level to incorporate into the series.
If you or club coaches in your Association know of any athletes that would fit the criteria (Boy Scout or former Scout and national level competitor), please encourage the parent/guardian of the athlete to contact me at
pmurphey@netbsa.org.
Info within the next few weeks would be great, and we are interested in former Scouts who are still youth competing as juniors.

Carl Rice is a dedicated youth baseball coach and handball player. His vision of merging the two were initiated at the SOS club in Modesto, CA. First in October and now in November, Carl has approached multitudes of young people and parents about the benefits that handball offer athletes.
The first program netted several players and mentors from the area.; Now phase two was initiated on Tuesday when more players were introduced and merged with players from the first program for a week long series of practices and play. On Friday there will be competition that pits players competing as individuals and as a team.
Congratulations Carl, thank you to the mentors and best of luck to the players.

The USHA Executive Board of Directors have approved a recommendation that was first submitted by Fred Lewis to add a collegiate tournament alumni division to the 4W Nationals in June, 2008.
The format will be similar to what is currently played at the 4W Collegiate Nationals with team play and a guaranteed three matches.
The details will be soon announced but for right now it should noted that participation is limited to players that have competed in at least one 4W USHA Collegiate Nationals and are 30 years of age or younger.
Naturally the promotion of the event will be crucial to it’s success.  Help from past participants to get the word out will be actively sought.
