Four-Wall Juniors


The 2011 USHA National Junior 4-Wall Championships are coming to Tucson, Dec. 27-30 at the Tucson Racquet and Fitness Club. The entry deadline is Dec. 8. CLICK HERE to enter online today! 

UPDATE: The opening ceremony festivities are scheduled for Monday evening, Dec. 26. Come to the club to check-in, get your shirt and participate in our Handball Rodeo!!  

The Rodeo will consist of different skill games set up in multiple courts. Lot's of fun and a chance at some great prizes!! Don't miss this event!

A short-court tournament will be played later in the week.

Handball in the Desert

WPH Race 4 Eight - Tucson: Moreno tops Lenning, Davis over Moler for all-Tucson finales.

luis2The WPH Race 4 Eight & Yes-2-Kids Arizona State Handball Games are finishing up on Sunday in Tucson. 

The Tucson crowd was happy when Luis Moreno (left) and Sean Lenning squared off for an all-Tucson finale.  Moreno eked out a first game and then cruised in the second to take the top prize and his second Race 4 Eight victory. Moreno also won the first stop in Idaho in early October,  

It was an all-Tucson final in the Women's as well when Tracy Davis beat Ashley Moler for the title.

The Four-Wall Big Ball Pro division saw top-seeded Samzon Hernandez (pictured below) defeat fellow Southern Cal strongman Sal Duenas, 10, 10 (Games to 15 using rally scoring).   CLICK HERE to hear what Samzon Hernandez thinks about Lenning's big ball play.  SH

2011 Simple Green US Open

Irish sweep men's 4-wall open events, Mehilos stops Reilly and Ruiz / Hernandez win Big Ball Doubles

sunday_rickyRicardo Ruiz (at left) sets from deep on Sunday evening in the final win with Samzon Hernandez in the inaugural 3-Wall Big Ball Doubles event at the 2011 Simple Green US Open.

Robbie McCarthy (shown hitting against Shanks) completed an Irish Men's sweep of the four-wall events on Sunday.  McCarthy rallied to defeat Charly Shanks in an 11-9 tiebreaker.

Paul Brady teamed with Michael Finnegan to hand Vince Munoz and Marcos Chavez their first loss at the SGUSO.

Megan Mehilos rallied from a first-game loss to defeat Aisling Reilly (shown below) in three games.  Reilly had been unbeatable on US soil for two years.

Action moved outside for the remainder of Sunday on the specially constructed three-wall court.  "It looks like a festival, just as we had hoped," said Simple Green's Bruce FaBrizio, who underwrote the great weekend of handball action.

Samzon Hernandez and Ricardo Ruiz earned the largest purse in Big Ball Three-Wall history, defeating Gilberto Rosales and Raul Calvillo in the final.   One-Wall champ PeeWee Castro teamed with Ricardo's brother, Braulio, to take third over Edgar Arabjo and Andrew Diaz.
