2011 4-Wall Juniors Championships

Junior Nationals: Celebration Banquet Caps Off a Great Event!

The USHA National Junior Four-Wall Championships wrapped up in Tucson on Friday. The celebration banquet on Thursday night was a fun night filled with food, friends and awards.

Pictured above are the six USHA National Junior Alumni with Mike Steele. (Left to right: Stephen Contreras, Cheryl Chen, Shirley Chen, Eric Matiasek, Kyle Kloss, USHA President Mike Steele and Daniel Cordova.) The alumni were honored at the banquet and given their embroidered USHA gym bags.

Special awards were also given out to select players voted on by the coaches (See the names below):

Most Improved: Ray Ure

Newcomer: Anthony Sullivan

Sportsmanship: Cheryl and Shirley Chen

The winners of the Handball Rodeo Skills Competition were also recognized at the banquet and each given a commemorative cover of Handball Magazine.

The 31st Milwaukee Handball Classic wrapped up on Sunday at the Wisconsin Athletic Club. For the first time in a few years it wasn't David Chapman winning the open singles division. No. 2 seed Allan Garner outplayed Chapman in the final, 11, 16.

The 65th Annual Handballesta Handball Tournament took place in Overland Park, KS., and had a great draw of over 120 players including some top pros competing in the open singles. little

No. 1 seed Tommy Little faced a determined Scottie Moler in the final. Little's experience was too much for Moler and the veteran prevailed, 19, 4.

The H.E.S. in Brooklyn hosted multiple one-wall events on Sunday.

In the men's singles final of the USHA 1-Wall Ranking event, Tyree Bastidas defeated Joe Kaplan, 25-20.

In the women's small ball singles final, Dori Ten beat Annie Huang, 25-10.

Team PR Team Puerto Rico (pictured left) dominated the Sky Bounce International Big Ball doubles events winning both the men's and women's divisions. In the men's final, Herman Mendez and Gio Vazquez defeated USA's Eddie Neville and Rookie Wright, 25-12. In the women's final, Lori Acevedo and Maggie Crespo beat USA's Adrian Floyd and Karen McConney, 21-6.
