Often
times the United States Handball Association can help new
college handball programs start up with equipment donations
and other support. Fill out this
form to let us know you're interested in starting a
program.
Pointers for
Starting a College Program
-
Identify interested handball players and recruit them.
-
Find a coach for the program.
-
Find
an advisor for the program. Generally they have to be staff or
faculty but they don’t have to be a player, just someone to
support the Handball Club.
-
Vote/Appoint the Student Club President, Vice President, and Treasurer. Check out an example of a Club's Handball Constitution.
-
Complete
all required college paperwork and be an official club. Contact your
recreation director and/or student government for such paperwork.
-
Reserve courts for club play time.
- Submit a budget to your school for funding of your program.
-
Have Handball Club members join the
USHA at the $10 discount price for students, include this cost in the
club dues. See member
benefits. The USHA offers a $21 special for new students. Contact Ian Kelly for more information.
-
Apply for grants; seek out fund raising opportunities and sponsorships.
-
Apply for USHA Starter Kit.
-
Participate in local tournaments and travel to the National Collegiate Championship.
